SEND YOUR APPLICATION FORM TO inter.rail2009@eyp-ua.org EYP-Ukraine Inter-Rail’ is a one-week project that will consist of 15 2-day sessions in 15 different cities of Ukraine: Donetsk (Apr 28-29) – Luhansk (April 30 - May 1) – Kharkiv (May 2-3); Zaporizhya (Apr 28-29) – Dnipropetrovsk (April 30 - May 1) – Poltava (May 2-3); Odesa (Apr 28-29) – Mykolayiv (April 30 - May 1) – Simferopol (May 2-3); Kryvyi Rih (Apr 28-29) – Aleksandria (April 30 - May 1) – Cherkasy (May 2-3); Vinnytsia (Apr 28-29) – Ternopil (April 30 - May 1) – Ivano-Frankivsk (May 2-3). Each of 5 teams of chairpersons (experienced trainers) will conduct 3 sessions in 5 regions of Ukraine. The target audience of this project includes the students of the last two years of school (grade 10 and 11), students of higher educational establishments (year 1-4) aged 16-20 as well as other youths provided they fit within the age frames of the organisation. ‘EYP Ukraine Inter-Rail’ project will involve its participants in each city in a 2-day mini-session of the European Youth Parliament. At each session there will be four committees, each of them working on a separate topic covering the issues of Human Rights Protection, Ethnic, Minority and Gender Equality, Immigrants integration into the society and others. Participation in such session will give young people from different Ukrainian regions an opportunity to voice their ideas and opinions on important national and international social issues, defend their opinions and work in a team to achieve common goals, as well as improve their English language skills through researching the information and existing policies of pre-assigned topics, participating in discussion within the committee on the given topic, writing speeches, public speaking and debating. In each city there will be a similar 2-day program, which resembles a standard EYP session and includes the following activities: Teambuilding, Committee Work and General Assembly. The topics will include among others: 1) Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE ): The problem of bilingualism in Ukraine: how to ensure national literacy interests and avoid conflicts with minorities? 2) Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET): Russia/Ukraine naval cooperation: how to strike a balance between national security and good neighborhood relations? 3) Committee on Human Rights (DROI): Problem of racism in EU and Ukraine: increasing number of extremist movements among young people in European countries. What measures should be implemented to educate youth in order to reduce the cases of intolerance? 4) Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI): Ukraine #1 on the list of European countries with highest HIV/AIDS rates: which immediate steps are needed to improve the situation? the participation is free
