EYP ZAPORIZHYA

Description of the project In each city there will be a similar 2-day program, which resembles a standard EYP session and includes the following activities: Teambuilding, Committee Work and General Assembly. At an EYP session youths are allocated before the event to committee groups on the basis of maximum diversity of age, gender and home location. After a period of “ice-breaking” and teambuilding they discuss a pre-assigned and already researched topic which is relevant to one on the agenda of the respective EU Parliament Committee. The task of the committee is to write an EU parliament format resolution in English, which contains introductory (background information) and operative (policy) clauses. The committee group aims to reach a consensus agreement on the resolution text. This resolution is then presented, debated and voted on at a ‘General Assembly’ (GA) of all committees participating in the session. There is no role play – all participants must make their own personal voting decision based on personal views on the content of the resolution and the GA debate. The resolution document is, in effect, a policy document. Such exercises provide an understanding and experience of researched and informed policy making, the writing of manifestos, voter decision making, as well as public speaking and open debate participation. The organisers of the ‘EYP-Ukraine Inter-Rail’ plan to prepare a report on the conducted project and share it with all National Committees of EYP in 32 European countries. Practical information for delegates The description of the format of EYP session and its main components can be read on the international website of EYP: http://www.eypej.org/?area=4 Selection Criteria for Participants of the All-Ukrainian Inter-Rail 2009: - age 16-20 (and/or pupils of 10-11 grade, students of 1-3 year of study); - proficiency in English (working language of the sessions is English); - interest in solving urgent European issues, excellent communication skills, tolerance and friendliness.
