----------1973---------- Jil Sander launched her first women's collection, which was sold on Milchstrasse in Hamburg. the collection featured luxury pantsuits, classic shirts, and distinctive coats for the new generation of businesswomen. ----------1978---------- JIL SANDER GmbH, Hamburg, was founded. ----------1979----------- JIL SANDER Cosmetics was launched as a strategic licensing alliance with the Lancaster Group. In the same year, PURE WOMAN and PURE MAN, the first JIL SANDER fragrances, entered the market. These were recently relaunched as Scent 79. ----------1993---------- JIL SANDER opened its first flagship store in Paris, at 52 Avenue Montaigne. This store opening was a major milestone in the brand's history and highlighted JIL SANDER's international appeal. ----------1994---------- JIL SANDER Italia S.p.A. was founded in Milan. JIL SANDER also opened its first showroom in Milan, which later the operative headquarters for the group. ----------1995---------- JIL SANDER America Inc., was founded in New York, marking the widening international reach of the brand. The first JIL SANDER store in the USA opened in Chicago at this time. ----------1997---------- The first JIL SANDER men's collection premiered in Milan in January. The men's ateliers in Milan became the home base for JIL SANDER's unique fusion of modern masculinity and refined craftsmanship. ----------1999---------- The JIL SANDER flagship store opened in Aoyama/Tokyo, Japan. ----------2000---------- Tokyo-based JIL SANDER Japan KK was founded to establish a greater presence in the growing Japanese market. ----------2005---------- Raf Simons joined the company in July, taking the position of creative director. His first men's and women's collections, for Fall/Winter 2006, were presented. These collections embodied the JIL SANDER brand's core values and held true to the history. ----------2006---------- The British Equity Fund Change Capital Partners bought JIL SANDER from the Prada Group. With this takeover the JIL SANDER Group became an independent company again. ----------2007---------- The JIL SANDER Group revamped its shoe/bag/accessory business with its Fall/Winter 2007/2008 collections. ----------2008----------- JIL SANDER announces the opening of its new flagship store in downtown New York on 30 Howard Street (at Crosby Street), the first store entirely developed and designed by Raf Simons.
