Niña Pastori. María Rosa García García, 1978, Cádiz. Niña Pastori’s first steps as a singer were encouraged by Camarón when she was but a child of eight, and in spite of her tender age she showed herself to be a singer with abilities and a future. Her first record (1996) after being discovered by Paco Ortega and Alejandro Sanz was directed at an adolescent audience, in keeping with her age at the time. Niña Pastori sang songs composed for her by Rafael Riqueni, Paco Ortega and Alejandro Sanz with freshness and verve. Moraíto, Cañizares and other big names in flamenco were in charge of the instrumentation. Her style and image, flamenco, youthful and pop, has turned her into one of the best-sellers of the new generation. Her first record sold over a hundred-thousand copies, and the child-singer became a star in the Spanish music market. She performs live with her group (guitar, bass, cajón, percussion, drums and keyboard).
