The lexical treatment of natural language requires that the vocabulary is encoded in the form of electronic dictionaries. A natural question then concerns the nature of the elements in these dictionaries. It has often been observed that lexicon items are not in general just ‘simple words’, but very often also sequences of simple words assembled with the use of so-called separators. The goal of our lecture is to provide some simple answers to the classification of Multi-Word Expressions in electronic dictionaries.
