Bishkek Int. UN Model supported by students of the American University of Central Asia. WE seek to give participants an opportunity to learn about the role and the functions of this important institution. Within this framework Bishkek Int. Model UN cooperates with local and regional institutions whose aim it is to promote international collaboration and international understanding. Affording youth the chance to present their viewpoints is not only a manifestation of the growing recognition of the potential of our future global players; it is also an acknowledgment of their rising influence and involvement in civil society. Goals and Tasks A simulated conference conveys realistic impression of the work in the bodies of the UN. That is why the debates are held, if possible, in large international plenary rooms and moreover in the official languages of the United Nations: English and Russian. This offers the participants the possibility to test and improve their rhetorical skills in these two languages. Target groups of our international activity are domestic and international students, generally everyone who is interested in the work of the United Nations. Each participating student, who is accepted to a Bishkek Int. UN Model conference, chooses a country role to be represented like a delegate in a UN-body provided that the participants only represent nations and organisations they do not belong to. This does not only offer the opportunity to get to know about the positions of other countries and to understand a different point of view but it also helps to develop the ability to really represent these foreign points of view in the model debates, irrespective of one’s own opinion.
