Azerbaijan International University was founded in 1997 in Baku. It is one of the largest private universities with more than 6000 students. Azerbaijan International University offers a wide range of subjects to study. The medium of instruction is Russian or Azerbaijani but a great attention is paid to teaching of English. The university grants bachelor and master PhD degrees in definite fields. Alongside the undergraduate and graduate programs some research centers have been established in Azerbaijan International University. Azerbaijan International University is a private university and gets no financial aid from the government. Taking into account the economic situation and living standards of people of Azerbaijan, the education fee is starting $200 up to $700 per academic year. The brightest students get stipend and for the refugee and low-income family students the education is free of charge. More than 1000 refugee students study at our university. Students from different regions of Azerbaijan, from Turkey, Iran, Germany, from CIS and other countries study at Azerbaijan International University. More than 268 full-time faculty, which include the famous scholars, experts, specialists of international reputation, work at Azerbaijan International University. The academic year runs form September and is divided into two semesters - Fall and Spring. The university runs a lot of cultural, sports and musical activities, for students. The university is located in Binagady neighborhood of Baku. The campus is easily accessible by bus from Ganjlik metro station. The students of the School of Medicine use all the laboratories, clinics, libraries of the Narimanov State Medical University due to the ten-year agreement signed between two universities. The university library book collections includes books and textbooks on different fields in English, Russian, Azeri and Turkish. All the students and faculty can use materials available in library. Books can be taken for a certain period or used in the reading hall. The Computer Center of university is responsible for all data processing and communication services and equipped with the latest versions of Hardware and Software. It is available for university staff and students from Monday to Saturday. Center runs short courses in the University as well. The university staff and students have an access to World Wide Web. Azerbaijan International University has a very good Sport Club where students are engaged in different sport sections. Some of our students are famous sportsmen in football, chess, boxing, karate and other sports. There is a Health Care Center, which is available to all the students and staff with basic medical services. Campus Dining Services recognizes the importance of variety, value and convenience, and offers well-balanced nutritious meals throughout the day. Two dining halls are located on the first floor of the Main Campus. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Azerbaijan International University became a corresponding member of International Personnel Academy of UNESCO (Kiev) in 1999. The president of University Dr. Elshad Islam Abdullayev was awarded the Gold Medal of UNESCO “For his achievements in the field of education\". Although the University is very young it has established relations with East Carolina University (USA), The University of Minnesota (USA), \"Green Hill\" and “Super Study\" colleges (UK), The University of Georgia (USA), Peking International University, International American University of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and some other universities. Azerbaijan International University cooperates with American, British, Turkish and some other embassies located in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan International University has won US Department of State 2000 NIS College and University Three-year Partnership Program between University of Minnesota and Azerbaijan International University, submitted by Darrel R. Lewis, Department of Educational Po
