C A R A J O - C.V. They say about CARAJO - "Argentine, punk, rock nü metal band" formed in the year 2000 by the musicians Marcelo "Corvata" Corvalán (base and voice), Andrés "Andy" Vilanova (drums) and Hernán "Tery" Langer (guitar). ---------------------------------Year 2001 ------------------------------- The first official presentation of the band was on May 25, 2001, in Whisky a GoGo of the City of Buenos Aires. The group had en excellent reception by the public as well as by the Press. From that moment on, they started to play without interruption in Buenos Aires and in its neighborhoods, offering in each show a demo CD with three of their songs SALVAJE (Wild), PURA VIDA (Pure Life) and LA GUERRA Y LA PAZ (War and Peace). In this year, CARAJO also toured the Argentine provinces of Mendoza, Cordoba and Catamarca. They also crossed the River Plate to Uruguay for their first show abroad. Gave four shows in the stage of Alternativa (a place where they grew as musicians). They were invited by Attaque 77 to share the stage with them in Cemento. Furthermore, they participated in the end-of-the-year celebration of the radio program Tiempos Violentos (FM Rock & Pop), They closed the year with the first edition of CLUB CARAJO, a combination of fair, music and other independent activities in Cemento. -------------------------------Year 2002---------------------------------- The year 2002 started with the recording of CARAJO’s first CD, entitled CARAJO. The CD was made under the guidance of the artistic and executive producer, Ale Vasquez, for GuaGua Música. The CD was recorded and mixed in the months of January/March, in the studios of Abasto al Pasto and Pichón Digital by Claudio Romandini. It was distributed by Universal Music Argentina. The CD contains twelve songs, composed by the group, among which the first track, SACATE LA MIERDA (Throw out the Shit), was number 1 during three weeks in the FM Rock & Pop and sold more than 18.000 copies. The first video of the group for this CD SACATE LA MIERDA (TAKE OUT THE SHIT) was ranked among the first during two months in MTV. The official presentation of this CD took place on September 7, at The Roxy of Buenos Aires where more than 1.000 persons enjoyed the powerful show. CARAJO kept developing. After the presentation of the CD, the group played in the Province of Neuquén where, in view of the demand, they had to add an extra show. Together with other bands, they played in the in the Antiglobalization festival organized by El Otro Yo. They also gave their second show in Uruguay. In November, the group travelled to Colombia to participate of the most important festival Rock al Parque, where an average of 80.000 people attended. Just like in 2001, the trio ended the year 2002 with CLUB CARAJO, The Roxy, this time with completely sold out tickets. As a consequence of CARAJO’s work and dedication, the newspapers Clarín, La Nación and Página 12 named CARAJO as BANDA REVELACION DEL AÑO 2002 (Revelation Band of 2002). The tour was organized by the group with free entrance for the public. More than 5.000 people were present in their shows. In February the trio was named The first Great Revelation of the third Brahma Cosquín Rock, because they were the first group that made the 14.000 people, gathered in the Próspero Molina square, jump and sing. CARAJO played again in Cemento in March. There, 2200 people were gathered and made the walls of the sold out theatre transpire. The group participated, together with other bands such as Cabezones, Arbol, Catupecu Macho, Kapanga and Massacre, in four benefit shows
