3rd Annual – Russian and International Student Education Network (R.I.S.E.N.) Event Date: Saturday, December 6th, 2008. Location: Mayakovskaya Library, Fontanka 46 (Through the courtyard to the left, and then upstairs) Metro Station: Gostiniy Dvor or Mayakovskaya Time: 17:00-19:00 Dear Friends, The snow has melted away for the time being, so let me invite you to warm up for the next R.I.S.E.N. event this coming Saturday, December 6th at the Mayakovskaya Library. We hope to continue our small group discussions, games, trivia questions and English music while providing a place where students and recent graduates from different countries, backgrounds and faculties can meet for conversation and socializing. The objective has been to create an environment where students from different universities and institutes can meet, learn about each others’ studies and experiences and include English-language practise. With this goal in mind, our focus has been on conversation, trivia games, music, challenging topics and fellowship. Thus far the events have been a success with active participation each time. We also offer a Quest adventure for those who would like to pursue a single topic in-depth. The theme from the last meeting was “Wealth: Who needs it?” The theme for this coming Saturday will be “Time and Place, Speed and Space.” The goal of R.I.S.E.N. is to develop a network of students meeting regularly and speaking about social, economic, academic and general life issues. If it is entertaining, stimulating and a friendly place to meet other university students in St. Petersburg, then R.I.S.E.N. will be a worthwhile organization for you to join. If you have friends or acquaintances who would like to come, especially if they are international students, then please invite them. Thanks for your help inviting people to R.I.S.E.N.!
