Dear Friends, After a successful meeting last Saturday with about 30 participants, the next gathering of R.I.S.E.N. will be held this coming Saturday. We hope to continue to provide a place where students from different countries, backgrounds and faculties can meet for conversation and socializing. As usual, there will be games, trivia questions and English music as part of the event. The objective of R.I.S.E.N. has been to foster an environment where students from different universities and institutes can meet, learn about each others' studies and experiences and practise English. With this goal in mind, our focus has been on conversation, challenging topics and fellowship, with guest speakers from the ex-pat and Russian local communities giving presentations. Last week's theme was "Human Rights and the Human Family." The theme for this coming Saturday will be "What Difference Does Time Make?" A few questions as food for thought: If you had access to more time in your every day life, what would you do with it? How actual is the expression 'Time is Money' in today's Russia? How do people from different places view time and experience it differently or the same? Is the pace of life quicker or slower for our generation than it was for our parents?
