The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is organized every year by the International Law Students Association in Washington, D.C. It was organized for the first time in 1960 at Harvard University under the name International Law Moot Court. Later it was renamed honoring Philip C. Jessup, esteemed diplomat and scholar, who served as a Judge at the International Court of Justice from 1961 until 1970. Nowadays, it is the biggest and most important student international law competition, in which the biggest and most esteemed universities participate. Each year more than 600 teams from more than 90 States participate. Participation in the competitions means the submission of two written memorials to ILSA and oral argument before three-judges panels who consist of international law professors and practitioners.
