Hello, We would like to remind you about our upcoming events. On Tuesday, September, 22, at 17-00 we continue watching the documentary movie "History of Broadway". The second episode will explore the Broadway's Jazz Age of 1919-1933. ________________________________ On Wednesday, September, 23, at 17-00 we host Michael Snyder, Assistant Cultural Attache (U.S. Embassy, Moscow) with a lecture "Healthcare in the USA". The lecture will take place at the American Literature Section on the 4th floor. _________________________________ On Saturday, September, 26, at 17-00 Jose Alaniz, Adjunct Professor of Comparative Literature at University of Washington, Seattle, will give a talk "In defense of Superheroes". Since their creation in the comics of the 1930s, superheroes have become inescapably linked to America, and not always to the best of American "super-power" traits: arrogant power, hubris, a flair for flamboyant violence as a solution to problems. For the most part, they have been dismissed as "silly" US mass culture. This lecture covers the history and pre-history of superheroes, from their sources in pulp fiction to their recent box office success, for a re-consideration of this much-maligned and misunderstood genre. The USA will be presented by the U.S. Consulate Information Resource Center, American Councils for International Education, our American Corner and Future Leaders American Corner. If you were born between January, 1, 1993 and July, 15, 1995 you have a chance to SPEND A YEAR IN THE UNITED STATES FOR FREE PARTICIPATING IN FLEX PROGRAM. Register on Friday, October, 2, from 11.00 - 18. 00. Come and participate in the open competition! Bring your passport / birth certificate and a photo 3х4.
