Alumni Volunteering Project

First 2 tours of FLEX contest will take place in the mid-October this year. As you know, the amount of participants ever year is decreasing badly. Last year there were only 150 youngsters total. I hope you remember how you felt about FLEX contest, what your wishes and expectations were and what unique experience you got from it after all. If you want more teenagers to find out about FLEX (cuz obviously the majority haven’t heard of it before) there is a good idea. What I suggest is: each interested alumni will visit 5-6 schools in the city in his/her district with the print out that I’ll send you later on your e-mails. We could make a short presentation of FLEX in every classroom of 9-10th graders (there wont be many classes because the level of birth rate in 1993-1994 was low). Telling about FLEX personally could allow students to decide themselves whether to go or not – not the teachers who never encourage students with low English level to come and take part in it. Also it can help the students to become less skeptical of the program itself because they will see real examples of flexible leaders and realize that they all have a chance to win: all of us are born under the same sky. So I really don’t think it could be a big deal for each of us to visit 1 school a day throughout the week in order to make sure that people got the information and it didn’t get lost in some headmaster’s drawer… P.S. THERE’S A FUN PART!!!!!!!!! If we gather more than 300 people this year for the contest we’ll have a pizza-party personally from Emily and some other surprise from me =)) P.P.S.
