Classically trained musician Sandy Dillon was raised in Cohasset, a small town near Cape Cod, New England. Her first two albums drew a torrent of comparisons, from Captain Beefheart, Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, Björk, Nick Cave to, most often, Tom Waits. Sandy's life has dramatically changed and not surprisingly so has the music, with a fresh, more open, narrative, Nobody's Sweetheart owes more to pop than anything else. The new album, her third album for OLI, saw Sandy using electronic recording techniques, working with Julius from Kinobe. The result is a more compact and direct album. The album sees Sandy at her most diverse, depending on the subjects in hand - anger, hope, loss, family and sex. From the simple vocal/piano balled, 'Feel The Way I Do' to the punky 'Don't Blame You Now' complete with psychedelic Hammond twirlings, the chilled electronic beats of the outstanding 'Shoreline', or the seductive 'Lets Go For A Drive', - the new landscape she has created is inviting.
