Simulation of the UN Security Council (English)
17 подписчиков
This is a small simulation of the United Nations Security Council which will be held on the English class for second-year students. The purpose of the simulation is to get to know how UN works and, what is more important, to improve your knowledge of English.
The agenda is ''Maintenance of international peace and security'' which is based on the real meeting of SC at 24 September, 2009 (full information about meeting: http://www.un.org/Depts/dhl/resguide/scact2009.htm ).
If you would like to participate, please write an application on e-mail gruzdovair@gmail.com (your name, surname, group, country you would like to represent). Feel free to ask any questions, moreover, all information will be sent to you personally.

IMPORTANT!!!
Today I said you that the result of our work was going to be a resolution, BUT, as I was said, 3 hours aren't enough for adopting it.
SO DO NOT PREPAIR YOUR DRAFTS AND DO NOT ANALYZE THE REAL RESOLUTION - JUST LOOK IT THROUGH TO GET THE POINT.
You should prepair only your position letter (don't write greetings (a welcome speech), just say 'Hello' to everybody:)). And since it is mostly the only activity we will have, you are NOT supposed to read them. Make them rather simple but meaningful, not too long (you will be given I think 3 minutes to represent your position).

Those of you who have already sent their requests to Irina were sent the clauses for resolutions and the glossary. Now you don't need to know clauses, you need the glossary only - to know how to SPEAK in a proper way.

One more thing - please prepair cards (A4) with the name of your country by yourself (forget what I said about them today;)). You can either print them or write - doesn't matter. Thank you in advance :)
