WorldSkills Calgary 2009

Come out September 1 – 7, 2009 – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch highly-skilled, passionate, world-class Competitors participate in 45 skills on the international stage. The Competitions demonstrate hands-on expertise, talent and determination. Hundreds of young Competitors from all over the world gather to compete in everything from robotics to web design, welding to cooking and auto-body repair to landscape gardening. It’s free admission for the four days of Competition at Stampede Park. Several interactive components, including education and career booths, showcase the many promising futures to be found in skills, trades and technology. Visitors will also be able to Try-A-Skill, where they can make an omelette, attempt electrical wiring or try their hand at welding. With 150,000 total attendance and 900 Competitors, the Competition is the largest independent event ever held at Stampede Park and two-thirds the size of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games.
